Start of the 21-Day Mixed Media Challenge

Count Down for Tomorrow's Start of the

 21-Day Mixed Media Challenge!

Are you getting ready to create, play and have fun for 21 days in a stretch!?

I better am, as I will be posting one new mixed media collage/painting a day....oh, what did I get myself into....just kidding....it will be a great opportunity for each and all of us to get into the creative zone again and to 'ride the energy of our own unique spirits'.

Feel free to post any thoughts, experiences or questions on this blog about you creating with various media, for example: What are you creating with; any hi-moments; hitting the proverbial wall of feeling stuck and needing a push past it or your fears; any reflections or deep insights while you were creating or dialoging with your creation; questioning when it is finished;.....?

I gave you some tips on how to get going in my previous post, but here is
a list of old and new suggestions:

  • first of all, bookmark this blog link on your desktop for easy access
  • flip through your favourite magazine for inspiration on colours, composition or just to rip and cut out any images you are drawn to and might use in your creation
  • open any page a poetry book and with closed eyes put your finger on any word; use that word as a focus for your painting or do stream-of-consciousness (hatever comes up) writing first and then create something visually from that
  • cut up an old painting or collage and rearrange and glue it on a new canvas board for a new beginning
  • paint and collage on top of an old painting you don't care for
  • be in silence or meditate for a few minutes and then pull a tarot card for its message to inspire your next creation
  • write in your gratitude journal every day and/or make a gratitude collage
  • look at other artists' art work or your own photographs for inspiration
  • google images of your interest and print them to form a starting point or even focal point for your next painting/collage
  • focus on an emotion or object in your thought and then draw it with your non-dominant hand and eyes closed on to a canvas as a starting point; then apply paint or tissue papers
  • go into nature and imprint your favourite image in your mind; then go home and re-create it loosely with ink, collage or paint or fabric or....?
If you have any other ideas to get our creative juices flowing and spirits roaring,
you are invited to share them here!

Also, if you wish to have your daily creation or even the occasional one published on this blog, with either your first or full name, then please send me a pic of it to my email: artaccess@shaw.ca

PS: If you live out of town, province or country, but want to participate and will be the winner of this challenge, you will receive original and printed art work from me for the equivalent of one-day workshop, worth $95, minus postage.

Submission date for all 21 entries is Sept. 1, 2012,
to be send electronically to:
